For many are called, but few are chosen. ย (Matthew 22:14 KJV)

ย

Last time I was talking with my cousin on the phone and as I usually do to all the people I speak with; I encouraged him to work for the Lord and use every opportunity he gets to preach the Gospel. To my surprise, he replied that he wonโ€™t be able to go out and preach the Gospel because he has not been called by God to be an evangelist.

The truth is that I have spoken to several Christians with this same mindset as my cousin, and I believe this is one of the major excuses Christians use to explain why they donโ€™t do the Lordโ€™s work. Many Christians are waiting to hear the audible voice of God before they respond to the call of God on their lives. We mostly expect the spectacular and end up missing the supernatural!

Our Lord Jesus in the above scripture is telling us that many (numerous, countless, innumerable, the masses, the multitude) have been called by God. If you were God and wanted to save all the world (8.2 billion people), would you send only a few people? I donโ€™t think so! You will send many people. The Lord knows that the harvest (lost souls) is plentiful and thatโ€™s why He has called many laborers.

It is very important to know that it doesnโ€™t matter who you are or what you have done in the past (Black, White, Latino, Rich, Poor, Young, Old, Murderer, Prostitute, Drunkard, etc.), God can and is ready to use you. The prophet Jeremiah was very young when the Lord called him (Jeremiah 1:4-19). The Lord also called and used Gideon who was of no reputation; he was the least in his family and his clan was the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh (Judges 6:15).

Apostle Paul who persecuted the Church was later called and used mightily by God (Acts 9:1-31). There are many people in the Bible whom the Lord called, irrespective of who they are or what they have done. Donโ€™t let the devil deceive you to think that you are not worthy for God to use. He can use everyone!

Beloved in the Lord, we have been called to be fruitful (John 15:16). Therefore, letโ€™s respond to this call and give our lives wholly to the work of God. Keith Green said, โ€œYou donโ€™t need to hear a call; youโ€™re already called!โ€.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His word. Letโ€™s ask God to help every believer know that we have been called and also reveal to each member in the body of Christ, the specific areas we have been called to.

God bless you all!
