For many are called, but few are chosen

ย (Matthew 22:14 KJV)

ย

Recently, I was on the phone with my cousin, and as I usually do with those I speak to, I encouraged him to work for the Lord and use every opportunity to preach the Gospel. To my surprise, he responded that he couldnโ€™t go out and preach because he didnโ€™t believe he had been called by God to be an evangelist. ย I have encountered this same mindset among many Christians. Sadly, it has become one of the major excuses believers use to avoid engaging in Godโ€™s work.

Many Christians are waiting for an audible voice from heaven before they respond to Godโ€™s call. But the truth is, we often expect something spectacular and end up missing the supernatural.

In the scripture above, our Lord Jesus tells us that manyโ€”countless, innumerable, multitudesโ€”are called by God. If you were God and your goal was to save all 8.2 billion people in the world, would you send only a few? Certainly not. The harvest is indeed plentiful, and thatโ€™s why God has called many laborers to go into the field (Matt 9:37).

Dear brothers and sisters, it does not matter who you are or what your past looks likeโ€”Black or White, rich or poor, young or old, whether you were once a drunkard, a prostitute, or even a murdererโ€”God can and wants to use you.

Consider the prophet Jeremiah, who was very young when God called him (Jer 1:4โ€“19). Or Gideon, who came from the weakest clan in Manasseh and was the least in his familyโ€”yet God still used him mightily (Judges 6:15). And letโ€™s not forget Apostle Paul, who persecuted the Church before he encountered Christ and was transformed into one of the greatest messengers of the Gospel (Acts 9:1โ€“31).

Throughout the Bible, we see that God doesnโ€™t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. Donโ€™t let the devil deceive you into thinking you’re not worthy to be used by Godโ€”He can use anyone.

Beloved in the Lord, you have been called to bear fruit (Jn 15:16). Let us respond to this divine call and devote our lives fully to the work of God. As Keith Green once said, โ€œYou donโ€™t need to hear a call; youโ€™re already called!โ€

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His word today. Letโ€™s ask Him to help every believer recognize that we have already been called, and to reveal to each member of the Body of Christ the specific areas in which we are to serve.

God bless you all.
