ยดThis Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will achieve successยด (Joshua 1:8).

When we take in physical food, it undergoes several biological processes before it finally becomes useful to the entire body. The first biological process is called digestion. It first begins from the mouth, to the stomach and eventually to the intestines. Now, whatever type of physical food we prepare or buy, regardless the price it has to undergo the appropriate biological protocol in order to profit the body, meaning, the several individual organs of the body do not just get nourished or obtain nutrients directly from the food without the breaking down of complex substances (Digestion). Also, when we eat solid food, it is necessary to take in water to help in the digestion of the food. The apparent consequence of taking solid physical food without water chokes.

Just like the physical food, the word of God is a spiritual food to our soul and spirit (Jeremiah 15:16). We need to understand that, for the word of God to profit and build our spiritual life, there are processes to be undergone. Of course, everybody can open and read the Bible, but not everybody gets the benefits. Many times we focus much on reading the word of God to acquire knowledge, that is good but such intend could lead to just having ยดhead knowledgeยด if one does not follow the proper way. We motivate ourselves and our new converts to always read multiple chapters of the Bible, that is awesome. The truth is, virtually every Christian somehow reads the Bible; in church, during religious festivity or personally. The question is, if everybody reads the Bible, why then do we have ignorant Believers? why do we have carnal people? why do we have heresies everywhere? why do we have weak believers? well, in most cases, we read the Bible without meditating on the word.

Meditating on the Word of God could mean many things though; there is meditation with human logic and there is meditation in the Spirit. One who reads the Bible and meditates with his logic or common sense, most certainly will apply the word to the lust of his flesh. And one who meditates in the Spirit receives new revelations, empowerment, voice/mind of God and illumination to live a victorious Faith life. Just as taking the physical food requires water to ease proper digestion, the believer needs the Holy Spirit which represents water in order to have sufficient benefits from the word of God. The digestion of the word is meditation in the Spirit.

Prayer Point:

Letยดs thank God for the word today, and also ask Him to help us meditate on the word in Spirit.
