Title: Mother’s of Jesus

While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to Him. Someone told Him, โLook, Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to You.โย But Jesus replied, โWho is My mother, and who are My brothers?โ Pointing to His disciples, He said, โHere are My mother and My brothers. For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.โ Mathew 12:46-50
One of my hobbies is playing football and I play in a small club in my city. While playing, I usually make the sign of the cross when I score a goal or before entering the pitch and my intention is to express my faith. I would think to myself “Let me represent Christ here”.ย In a recent game, immediately after I entered the pitch an opponent pinched my back even before I got the ball and I got really mad, the referee had to calm me down. At that moment, I paused for a second and I felt really embarrassed with myself. Was this the Christ I was here to represent? Why was I so easily offended?
Beloved in Christ, our familiarity with Christ is not by external signs. As Jesus says in the opening verse if we want His recognition as brother or sister or related to Him, it is first and foremost by doing the will of the father in heaven. The will of the father is not complicated, it is to love. Love is the motto. It is the password. God is love. Whatever we do must be inspired by love. We must begin with love and end with love. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:8). We should intercede because of love, help the needy because of love, fast because of love, and teach because of love. We need to know God in order to love that’s what should inspire the regular study of the word.
I had a conversation with a brethren one time. I told him “hey, love is the greatest” and he said “how do you love”,ย I knew the answer he expected so I responded, “by dying to self” and Heย agreed. Indeed Jesus says “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down oneโs life for oneโs friends.”(John 15:13).ย No wonder He also says “…If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.”(Mathew 16:24).ย Every time we love we are carrying a cross in one way or another, we’re moving attention from self to other. That’s one of the reasons we need prayer and fasting. Imagine if everyone could love one another… isn’t God’s kingdom amazing? Let’s build it with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer Point:ย
Let’s pray, for mercy for the many times we fail, the grace to know God more and do His will; LOVE.
