And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.ย 1 Kings 18:46ย KJV

God has a reputation that He is Almighty and can do all things. The scriptures are filled with stories of supernatural acts performed: From the deliverance of Israel from Egypt to empowering men like Samson for exploits. The miracles of Jesus and those performed by the Apostles were all products of His power. Despite this reality, lots of Christians are in need of a change that can only come by the power of God. How can we move the hand of God to act on our behalf?

The manifestation of God’s power as a witness that the Gospel is true is different from God manifesting Himself in the life of the individual being used. This is the reason why one can be so mightily used by God in the ministry but be in need of a change in His personal life. To understand this, consider that the bones of Elisha were still raising the dead at his death while the Bible recorded that Elisha died of a sickness (2 Kings 13:14,21). Why didn’t the mighty anointing in his life heal him of the sickness he died from? To move God’s hand to work on our behalf we need faith.

When we decide to walk on the word, we are expressing the kind of faith that would cause God to act on our behalf. God confirms His word with signs and wonders (Mark 16:20). Meaning, when we preach His word accurately, the miraculous follows to affirm that the word is true (which is independent of us). But to see the power of God manifest in our own situation, we must be doers of the word that we preach. This is the reason God would usually require a minister to listen to his or her own sermons, so he or she can remember to do, which will cause Him to act in their lives outside of ministry.

Again, obedience to the voice of God moves God’s hand to work on our behalf. In this many of us fail, for most are not yielded to the voice of God, especially when He is leading outside of our comfort zone. This is one of the reasons why it seems God is slow in manifesting Himself in the lives of believers, despite the immeasurable nature of His power at work in us. Finally, prayer and fasting move God’s hand to work on our behalf. Ezra was one who understood this truth. After boasting to the king about the power of God, He humbled himself before God in fasting and prayer, and the hand of God moved on his behalf (Ezra 8:21-23).

There’s no reason for us to experience defeat in life, or live short of the manifestation of God’s power. As we practice the above truth, we will see the manifestation of God’s hand in our lives.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him for grace to do those things that will make His hand to move in our lives.
