And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el. (2 Kings 2:2 KJV)

Whenever a chapter in a man’s life is about close and another is about to open, it is most times announced by a challenge or an uncomfortable situation. A situation you will avoid at all cost if you had the power to. However, this arrangement was meant to push you out of the status quo or comfort zone into this new door that has been opened unto you.

Itโ€™s like a pregnant woman who is about to give birth; the discomfort of pregnancy that climaxes with the pain of labour are experiences that almost every woman will wish could be avoided as long as the baby will still come out wholly.

Our scriptural reference talks about the story of the departure of Elijah. Elisha’s time of showing forth was ripe but his master Elijah had to go first. If Elisha had an option, he would have prevented Elijah from going because we see how pained he was, so much so that he tore his cloth into two after the chariots took Elijah.

After his master left, he turned to God and called out to Him โ€œwhere is the Lord God of Elijah?….โ€ (2 Kings 2:14). This realignment with God opened him into the realm of authority and the miraculous and he was able to part river Jordan into two without his master Elijah.

Therefore, to properly navigate challenges into the new seasons, you must turn to God when you are faced with challenges (Ps 121:1) like Elisha did . In addition to this first requirement, you need to be diligent, be consistent and be determined to see this process through. This was the admonition God gave to Joshua to be strong and very courageous (Joshua 1:9) as he was about to enter a leadership season in his life and it was starting with a lot of challenges.

It is human to be tired and exhausted in the process but we must march forward to pass through the challenge into testimonies.

Prayer point:
Let us thank God for His word today. Let us pray that God will give us grace to trust Him absolutely, be diligent and consistent to navigate challenges and get into our testimonies.
