Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place?
– Psalm 24:3 NIV
The Christian journey is a journey back to the Father, to whom we are being reconciled. Since our Father is in heaven (Matthew 6:9-10), the journey back is an upward movement filled with several roadblocks.
At the beginning of Genesis 2, Scripture says, “Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished” (Genesis 2:1-2 KJV). When the word ‘heavens’ is used, it suggests there are multiple heavens. Theologians often categorize them as first, second, and third heaven, with the third being God’s throne. However, Scripture doesn’t limit the number of heavens to three.
These heavenly realms share borders with each other, and often, fallen angels guard each border (God and His angels reside in the part of heaven that is His throne). Prophet Daniel described a similar blockage when the prince of Persia withstood the angel bringing God’s message to him (Daniel 10:13). Similarly, the Apostle Paul wrote about spiritual forces opposing believers in Ephesians 6:12.
As we ascend to the Father, we encounter these blockages, which manifest as resistance to our progress in life. Our journey to the Father is metaphysical, meaning our bodies remain on earth while our spirits ascend. Yet, this ascension is evident in the progress we make in the natural, as we rise to the top of the field of influence God has placed us (Psalms 15 & 24).
We saw how Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego rose from being slave boys in Babylon to becoming authorities in the land. Each level of their rise was marked by certain oppositions they faced:
  • 1. Resistance from Nebuchadnezzar’s advisors (Daniel 1:8-20)
  • 2. Confrontation with King Nebuchadnezzar’s idol (Daniel 3:1-30)
  • 3. Opposition from the satraps and administrators (Daniel 6:1-28)
These natural oppositions reflect the blockages existing in the heavenly realms.
Thus, the phrase ‘New Level, New Devils’ holds truth. The Lord showed me this reality in an encounter and told me that accepting the truth that these spiritual blockages exist will hasten our rise to the top without hindrances.
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us accept the realities that exist in the spiritual realm.
