Nothing happens unless you speak
CALL TO PRAYER
Date: 24/07/2021

Title โย Nothing happens unless you speak
And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, โI command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of herโ. And it came out that very hour. (Acts 16:18 ESV).
As Christians, we should be filled with the word of God. This is essential because you cannot give what you do not have. In spiritual warfare, however, there is another dimension that goes a bit further than knowing the word of God or being filled with the word of God, and that is speaking the Word. For todayโs message, we are considering the necessity of speaking the Word.
From Acts 16:16, we read that Paul and some of the other missionaries were on their usual work of proclaiming the good news in Philippi. One day as they were heading towards the place of prayer, they met a girl with a spirit of divination who proclaimed that Paul and the other missionaries were servants of God. Now, the spirit in this girl was an evil spirit, however, the devil is strategic enough that he did not say anything negative about them. What she was saying purported to be as though they were in the same business, but that was not the case. Nevertheless, this will not be the emphasis for today.
Now, in todayโs verse, we read that the spirit in the girl kept on doing that until Apostle Paul became annoyed and rebuked the spirit. So, let us establish some truths here. Did Paul know the word of God? Yes, he did. Did Paul have the power to cast out demons? Yes, he had. Furthermore, did Paul know that there is power in the name of Jesus? Definitely, he did. Then, how come the girl kept disturbing them day after day? The answer is that the girl kept on because the Word had not been spoken against the evil spirit in her.
It is important to remind ourselves that the devil is not afraid just because someone knows the Word, or the person is powerful, else he would not have tempted Jesus Christ when he knew Jesus just finished forty days of fasting and prayers. The devil is afraid of the one who speaks the word of God backed by power and authority.
The word of God is one of the Christianโs effective tools of attack. However, the Word is effective only when it is spoken. Make it a habit of speaking the Word and victory shall be yours. God bless you.
Prayer: Let us take some time and pray and thank God for His word today. Let us pray again that the spirit of God will grant us understanding into the word of God so that we can be effective speakers of the word in all our battles.
God bless you all.
