Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.ย Luke 10:19 KJV

.

How would you like to walk around without any fear of the enemy, fully assured in Christ? This is a reality that is available for us all by the finished work of Christ. Sadly, not many Christians have come to the knowledge of this truth, hence, many live a defeated life instead of the life of victory available to us in Christ.

In the kingdom, we rise to the level of the truth we acknowledge. And the truth that we have been given power over ALL the power of the enemy, and none of their acts can hurt us is one we must know intimately (Luke 10:19). The word “Power” used in Luke 10:19 is from the Greek word “Exousia”. It was the same word that was translated as “Authority” in Matthew 8:9 Authority is a word that is related to Kingship and Dominion. In defining authority based on biblical usage, it is the legal right for a king to exercise dominion (sovereignty and control) over a particular sphere.

Therefore, when Christ said “Behold, give unto you power (authority)to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19)” He was telling us that He has given us the Authority as Kings to rule over the enemy as our subject, just as Adam was given authority or right to dominate all the animals in the Garden of Eden (all that God created). Added to that authority was an immunity clause, which states that “nothing shall by any means hurt you”. And this immunity is not dependent on our works of righteousness. With this said, why do we find lots of Christians oppressed by the enemy today, despite the truth that we have been given authority over them? Lack of knowledge!

Today, we find preachers emphasizing the power of the enemy, and have built Ministries based on fear of the enemy rather than faith in God. But we must pass the knowledge of the truth, and help the body see that we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:6), and we have been given the right to exercise His rule here on earth (1 John 4:17).

Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us to walk in the power and authority we have received from Him.
