And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? [31] And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.(Acts 8:30-31 KJV)

One major deficiency in the world today is the absence of light and in saying this, I am referring to understanding. Many years ago, I saw myself in the scriptures through this divine light called understanding. Just as Jesus saw himself in the scriptures and read it out in the synagogue, it was too real to me and I have carried that identity till date. It was because light made manifest this truth to me that God then began to reveal other details of His plan. The absence of light brings frustration. The Ethiopian eunuch in our opening text mirrored a man without light because he had the word but had no illumination to see what is being said by the prophet Esaias. Until Philip, who was led by the Holy ghost opened his eyes to see what the scripture was saying, he couldnโ€™t benefit from the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

The word of God you donโ€™t see may not profit you. Some people talk about reading the bible from cover to cover to show off as if it is a novel or history book. The word of God is full of treasures that only light through the Holy ghost can make you see. For instance, If you have not seen your dominion over demons and the powers of darkness, you are likely to still be their victim. Many believers that have no business with untimely death had passed on because they never saw the provision for longevity in the word. Prophet Isaiah was speaking with boldness in Isaiah 2 because he saw the word(vs 1) and was too persuaded they would come to pass over Jerusalem and Judah.

Faith is enhanced by sight. The people of Samaria with one accord gave heed to what Philip spake because they heard and saw the miracles he did(Acts 8:6-7). Believing becomes more easier when you can see. What have you seen for yourself in the word that has changed the fabric of your existence? Jeremiah found the words of the almighty, he consumed and became one with them and they became his source of joy and rejoicing (Jer. 15:16). It is time to begin to engage our heart in the study of Godโ€™s word and the word of faith through his anointed vessels and in sweet fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

Prayer point:

Letโ€™s thank God for the word today. Letโ€™s pray that the Lord will open our eyes to see the treasures in His word.
