He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, โ€œHe is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.โ€ ย (Psalms 91:1-2 NKJV)

When Jesus Christ spoke about the End Time, one of the things He said would increase in the world is wickedness, which will cause the love of many to wax coldย  (see Matthew 24:12). This is now evident in the evil prevalent in our day.

It is God’s will that we be preserved from every evil, as Jesus Christ expressed when He taught the disciples how to pray, saying, โ€œโ€ฆdeliver us from evilโ€ (Matthew 6:13). Usually, God answers such requests by revealing His word to us. Today, we will investigate God’s provision for security in His word.

David, a warrior, engaged in many battles and emerged victorious without harm. In Psalm 91, he revealed his secret to protection from evil: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). When we dwell in the secret place, we are under God’s protection. We dwell there by continually being conscious of Him and communicating with Him as if He is present. Consistently doing this makes the truth that God is our refuge manifest, and we are spared from every evil.

Another essential for preservation from evil is the name of Jesus. Scripture says, “The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10 NIV). In ancient times, cities had tall towers where watchers stayed, and people sought refuge during wars. A tower’s height made it inaccessible to enemies. Jesus told the Father, “While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me…” (John 17:12). Call upon Jesus’ name with faith, and you will be preserved.

Apostle Paul wrote that Jesus “…gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness…” (Titus 2:14 NIV). This means deliverance from evil is our redemptive benefit. Knowing and thanking God for this will help you manifest it.

Lastly, one of the duties of angels is to protect God’s children. Knowing how to attract their assistance and putting them to work will help you stay protected from every evil.
