Title: Peace In The Midst of The Storm

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

(Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV)

The Peace of this world is different from that of the Lord. The Oxford Dictionary defines Peace as, โ€œfreedom from disturbance; tranquilityโ€ or โ€œa state or period in which there is no war, or a war has endedโ€. According to the world, if one is not having any problems or going through any trials, then he/she is in the state of Peace. However, as children of God, we enjoy the Peace of God at all times, even in the midst of the Storm.

One may say that itโ€™s easier said than done because you donโ€™t know the kind Trials I am going through. I perfectly understand you! I have personally gone through some Trials and I have many friends who are experiencing severe Trials at the moment. I always tell my friends that on a normal day, when there are no problems, everyone is a good Christian with strong Faith in God. However, in times of Trials our Faith is usually put to test and thatโ€™s when we find out if our Faith is strong, genuine or needs to be strengthened. This is one of the reasons why God allows His Children to go through Trials.

Beloved in the Lord, one thing I want you to know is that we serve a God who loves us very deeply and with Him, everything is possible. It doesnโ€™t matter how severe your Storm is, He can calm it! It doesnโ€™t matter how worse your current situation is, He can turn it around within a moment. Knowing who He is and What He is capable of, we should rather pray in times of trial rather than worry. When we pray, the Lord comforts us through the Holy Spirit, gives us understanding of the Trials and assures us of victory. Thisย  helps us to experience the Peace of God amid the Trials.

Also, focusing on our past victories over trials and that of others help us to remain at peace in the midst of trials. There are lot of examples in the Bible and I personally know many fellow Believers who went through trials. He is the same God who delivered you from your first trial. He also did it for Abraham, Sarah, Hannah, Joseph, Job, your Father, Mother, Aunt, Uncle, and friend. He has done it before, and He will surely do it again! Therefore, remain at peace knowing that God is faithful; He is true to His word and promise.

There are also some storms which comes as a result of our own disobedience or mistakes. For example, the Storm Jonah experienced was because he disobeyed God and didnโ€™t want to deliver His message to the City of Nineveh (Jonah 1). You may have made some mistakes and you are now reaping the consequences. Your friends are accusing you, ridiculing you and telling you that you deserve whatever you are going through. Donโ€™t worry! Come back to God because He is merciful and will cause all things to work for our good (Rom 8:28).

Beloved in the Lord, the life of a Christian is not without Trials. However, not only does the Lord delivers us from these Trials but He also gives us Peace amid the trials. He is our Peace in the midst of the Storm!

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s pray for the Peace of God for all Believers around the world, especially those who are going through Trials. Letโ€™s also ask God to strengthen our Faith so we can withstand every Storm of Life.

God bless you all.
