For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, โ€˜Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.โ€™ Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.ย  Acts 27:23โ€ญ-โ€ฌ25 NKJV

After teaching on the beatitudes and other principles of the kingdom, Jesus Christ went on to mention situations that would come to test every one’s work: the rain, the flood, and the wind (Matt. 7:25,27). These represents the trials of life that everyone will go through. The impact of these trials on you reveal the foundation you are building on.

We observe the scenery expressed in the life of Apostle Paul and those with him when he was being taken to Rome as a prisoner as recorded in the book of acts. On their Journey, a storm came against the the ship, and it was at risk of sinking (Acts 27:13-20). While the others were afraid of their lives and were scared of dying, Apostle Paul was calm, peaceful, and relaxed. The difference between Paul and others in the ship was the access to the voice of God he had, for he said to them: “there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, โ€˜Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.โ€™ Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me (Acts 27:23โ€ญ-โ€ฌ25 NKJV )”.

Peace is a product of faith, and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). When the storm, flood and wind come to test us, trusting in God by believing His words helps us to be peaceful despite the situation, for we know the end. This was why Jesus Christ was asleep in the boat at a time when it was at risk of sinking while his disciples were scared (Mark 4:38-40). Again, Joseph prospered in the land of his suffering because he believed the promise of God.

Therefore, in the midst of the trials of life, remind your self of His promises to you and be sensitive to hear His voice. For believing in what He says is the key to experiencing peace in the midst of the storm.

Prayer Point:
