I can do all this through him who gives me strength. ย Philippians 4:13 NIV
The mind is one of the most important parts of our being, as who we are is simply a description of the state of our mind. For as a man thinks in his heart (mind), so is he (Proverbs 23:7). Therefore, we must give careful thought to the nature of thoughts we allow ourselves to dwell on.
What manifests in our lives is a product of the imaginations in our minds, for our thoughts influence our speech and actions. One who is negatively minded will always experience negative things, and the opposite is true. For this reason, we must ensure we only allow positive thoughts in our minds. One who is positively minded is always expectant of good and has the “I can do it” attitude, which is fueled by their strong awareness of God being with them to help them.
When David saw Goliath, what came to his mind was “I can kill this man” because he was aware of God’s presence with him (1 Samuel 17:46-47). Those with a positive mindset see the natural from a spiritual perspective and are not moved by the gigantic nature of the challenge in the natural. Joshua and Caleb saw God with them and believed they could take the Promised Land, but the ten other spies saw the giants and fretted (Numbers 13:26-33). Only those who have a positive mindset inherit promises.
The way to develop a positive mindset is to always dwell on the positives. We become what we set our minds on. So, instead of thinking about how impossible the situation is, why not think about how nothing is impossible with the God who is with you? In her book “The Battlefield of the Mind,” Joyce Meyer narrated how God told her, “Think about what you are thinking.” That is, she should take note of the thoughts that come to her mind. This awareness helped her correct most of the negative thoughts she dwelt on previously by rejecting them and accepting only the positive ones. Renewing your mind with the Word helps in this (Romans 12:2).
Another thing we can do is ask God in prayer to help us develop a positive mindset, and then we keep thanking Him for it.
DON’T BACK DOWN, YOU CAN DO IT!
