Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. (Isaiah 55:3 KJV)

In the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15: 11-24) we see one distinctive attribute of his father, he has a yearning and expectant heart ( he deeply loves his children and expressed it in action). He must have spent countless times alone hoping, praying, and waiting for the day his son will hopefully come back home if he was still alive. When that day finally came, he saw a child that he had concluded was dead, standing before him alive. Hence, the reason he was overjoyed and threw a big party.

In our text today, we see the Almighty God yearning and reaching out like the father in our story. He is reaching out for a deeper relationship which requires us to come intentionally to Him and when we do, He speaks. An example was given of the patriarch David who in time past lost his intimacy with God at a certain season in his life due to his actions but when he sought God, his testimony was that he heard God and He made an everlasting covenant which is generational.

Many of us need to intentionally go again to God not necessarily because we have disobeyed Him but because there is more in this intimate relationship. God has a yearning that we incline our ears to hear because He has something to say that has the capacity to preserve our lives and also establish a covenant that generations after us will enjoy as a heritage. This is a strategic year that we must take full advantage of by not breaking our fellowship with the Father because He yearns for it to preserve us.

Prayer point:
Let us thank God for His word today. Letโ€™s pray for the grace to be steadfast in obedience and our fellowship with the Father this year.

God bless you.
