Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14)
Peace is a relative calmness or session of absolute tranquility that emanates spontaneous freedom. There are lots of its concept when it comes to practical application. The significance of peace in our lives can never be overemphasized. There are several conceptions of peace, however, there are two major that seem paramount. The first is the peace of the world. This is the peace that men define according to period of harmony, collective understanding, unity etc. It might be godly or ungodly….peace of the world is subjected to the standard and activity of men which is characterized by many social and traditional factors.
The second is the peace of God which passes all understanding. It is so effectual that it spreads goodness and liberty to people around. The peace of God is divine, pure and beyond human comprehension, it changes a man entirely to perfection. When a man has peace of God, he exhibits flawless attributes of selflessness, extreme calmness, trouble free behavior and very caring. The peace of God is more than just the absence of conflict: it is taking action to restore a broken situation, it is also more than a state of inner tranquility. His peace brings about wholeness that makes a man complete.ย Inward satisfaction can only be achieved through the supernatural peace of the Almighty God. It is an essential heavenly requirement from all men.
As children of God, we are expected to showcase and teach the world the peace of God by living a peaceful life: how do we do that? By:
- Living a complacent life and being happy with what God has blessed us with.
- Demonstrating endurance and trust in Him always
- Constantly looking onto Jesus
- Engaging in fruitful godly associations
- Being grateful
Since God is peaceful, He urges us to manifest the peace that comes from Him as we are still in the world. Nonetheless, we should not be controlled by circumstances around us. As human beings, we are bound to have misunderstanding, conflict but we should learn to allow the peace of God to lead the way so that we will experience true satisfaction in Him. In the Mathew 5:9, the Bible made us understand the relevance of peace when it comes to our identity in God. In everything we do, let the peace of God reign.
Prayer Point: Let’s thank God for today’s message. Let us also ask Him to show us the way of His peace in order to fulfil His criteria of Divine peace
