Title: Redeem The Time
By: Stephen Osei Kuffour
Date: 23.11.2025
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ย
(Ephesians 5:15-16 NKJV)
ย
Several years ago, I met a man who deeply regretted how he had spent his younger days. He told me, โIf I could buy back time, I would change so many things.โ He had opportunities to grow spiritually, repair relationships, and pursue his calling, but he postponed them repeatedly. Now older and limited by health challenges, his words were filled with sadness. As he spoke, I realised how precious time truly is โ a gift from God that must never be taken for granted.
This is exactly what the Apostle Paul emphasises in Ephesians 5:15โ16. The Christian Walk is not a careless journey but an intentional and disciplined one. The Scripture tells us to walk circumspectly, meaning to live carefully and thoughtfully. Every decision we make, every step we take, shapes our spiritual life. A fool lives impulsively, blindly following emotions, desires, and the patterns of the world. But the wise person walks according to the Word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Paul then instructs us to redeem the time. Time is one of the most valuable resources God gives us, and once it is lost, it can never be recovered. Redeeming the time means making the most of every moment โ choosing prayer over procrastination, the Word over wastefulness, and obedience over distraction. Many believers lose valuable time chasing things that do not matter in eternity. Yet God has entrusted each of us with a purpose that must be fulfilled.
The Scripture concludes by saying, โbecause the days are evil.โ We live in times where sin is celebrated, distractions are constant, and spiritual coldness is common (Rom 1:20-32). This is not a season for spiritual sleep. This is a time to be vigilant, focused, and intentional (Rom 5:8). We must guard our minds, our hearts, and especially our time.
Beloved in the Lord, let us take this Word to heart. Let us commit to walking wisely and redeeming the time. May we prioritise the things that matter to God and be faithful in the calling He has given us. When we use our time for His glory, we position ourselves for His blessings and eternal reward. Go and redeem the time!
Prayer Point:
Let us thank God for the gift of time and His Word today. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will help us walk wisely, redeem every opportunity, and stay focused on the things of God in these evil days.
God bless you all.
