May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ย Romans 15:13 NIV

As we reflect on the past year, we recall moments that tested our resolve and threatened to steal our joy. The economic downturn, and for those in Nigeria, the fuel subsidy removal which led to a surge in prices of commodities, are among the challenges that may have overwhelmed us. However, we’re reminded that our hope and joy aren’t tied to the world’s economy.

The Bible encourages us to rejoice and be joyful despite our circumstances. We find strength in knowing that God is always with us. As 1 Thessalonians 5:16 says, “Rejoice always.” Even in trials, God offers us strength.

Nehemiah 8:10 emphasizes the importance of joy: “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” This is how we should start the year!

As we begin the new year, let’s commit to rejoicing always, praying continually, and giving thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17). This mindset helps us maintain a positive outlook, stay connected to God, and focus on His blessings.

Happy New Year Everyone!
