Title: Renewal of the Mind

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2. NIV
Renewal of our minds is the continuous process of washing our minds with the word of God so that we can know God’s will. It’s by knowing God’s will that we carry it out and it’s by carrying out God’s will that we manifest certain blessings.
For instance, the word of God says in Philippians 4:6-7:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
So then if you know and remember it’s God’s will for you not to worry but rather to pray and thank Him, then you can do this and in exchange access peace of mind.
Another example is, what Jesus says in Luke 11:39-41:
Then the Lord said to him, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.
This reveals that one way to attain a pure heart is through generosity to the poor. Therefore, if we are not generous and yet we want a pure heart, how can we access it?
Now, despite the word of God washes us and renews our minds, there is a first step that must be taken for any washing to be possible. It’s like with a very hardened soil. If you want it to receive water there is something you first have to do. That is till it or break it! That makes it such that water can penetrate. For us men, the tilling-like process is when you acknowledge that you are a sinner and as such deserving of God’s wrath and therefore accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour who suffered and died for your sins and rose again.
When we accept Jesus into our hearts, He removes our heart of stone and gives us a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). A heart that can receive God’s word and apply it. If not preach from morning till sundown… if a man has not been broken in this way, the word cannot penetrate.
Dearly beloved, have you truly accepted Jesus into your heart or do you still have a heart of stone? And for you who has accepted, are you now comfortable in ignorance or are you learning God’s word that will transform you to do God’s will and walk in His blessings for you both spiritual and material?
