Title: Return To Your First Love

Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.  (Revelations 2:4-5 NKJV)

A couple of days ago, we had a holiday in Germany to mark the Day of Pentecost. This was also after we had a holiday for Ascension Day a week ago. Although this happens every year, I began to carefully think about it this time around. I realized that Ghana where I come from, which is known to be a Christian country does not even have these holidays. Ghana is believed to have 75% Christians, 15% Muslims, 5% Traditionalists and 5% Atheists or other Religions.

This made me realize that Germany, and even Europe in general was built on Christianity. This continent has produced a lot of great Missionaries who risked their lives to spread the Gospel all around the world. Some of these Missionaries came to live in Africa when there was no proper health system available and even died from malaria and other diseases. It is because of their sacrifice that most of us came to know the true God.

Now, many people in Europe have rejected the Lord and His ways to follow their own ways. They are living in great deception and even promoting the devil’s agenda (2 Cor 4:4). The few people who choose to stand for the truth are also met with great persecution. It is therefore time for the people in Europe to return to their first love (Rev 2:4). It is time for Europe to return to the Lord!

I think we can also say the same thing about you. This is because you used to be a zealous Christian when you first believed. You were spending regular and consistent time with the Lord in prayers and in His word. You used to sacrifice your time to preach the Gospel to others and also gave cheerfully to support the Gospel and those in need (Rom 1:16, 2 Cor 9:8). However, you don’t do those things anymore. You have been giving different excuses for a long time. This is not the time for another excuse. It is time to return to your first love!

Beloved in the Lord, Europe was built on Christianity, but the current Generation have rejected the Lord to promote the devil’s agenda. It is therefore time for Europe to return to the Lord. In the same way, most Christians are no longer zealous for the Lord like they used to do when they first believed. It is therefore time for us to return to our first love because Jesus Christ is coming soon!

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask the Lord to help Europe to return to Him. Let’s also ask the Lord to help all Believers to return to their first love.
