And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months. Exodus 2:2
In life, it is easy to make mistakes and lose valuable things. Though we often say that we must learn from mistakes to be better human beings, however, there are some mistakes we will not make if we can discern well. Why do I say this? There are some people that we let go of because we are not able to discern who they are or their purpose in our lives. Today’s message is a classic example of how discernment can help one keep the good people that come their way.
Moses’ mother hid Moses for three months, and the Bible says the reason was that she saw Moses was a good child. How did she know this? Also, she might have heard of mothers who have given away their children to be killed. Now the word “good” or “fine” child is the same adjective “good” from the Hebrew word “ลฃรดb” found in the creation account (Genesis 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, 31). The same way God saw that everything He had created was good, so did Moses’ mother see that her child was special and would not give him away.
It takes the Spirit of discernment to be able to make such decisions. This was a child on assignment, and a careless decision on the part of the mother would have sabotaged the child’s mission. In our world, mothers give birth and throw their children away just because they were not ready to give birth. Abortion has become rampant. If people will sit back and ask, ‘what does God have for the future of this child’, possibly these vices will reduce. Beloved, I pray today that you will not give away anything or anyone valuable because of pressure from society or ignorance. I pray that we will be able to discern the mission of those who come our way and keep the ones carrying our blessings.
Prayer Point:
Let us thank and praise God for His word today and the answers to our prayers. Let us pray for the grace to see as God sees.
