Title: Sitting before the Lord

Then went king David in, and sat before the Lord, and he said, Who am I, O Lord God ? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto? (2 Samuel 7:18 KJV)
Many years ago, as I was starting a new year, I was moved in my spirit to withdraw to a solitary place just to worship and as I began to engage, I discovered it had turned into a heartfelt conversation with the Lord and the nature it took got me emotional and I broke down in tears. I had not come to ask Him for anything, I was only reflecting on my lifeโs journey and how I have been helped from above. His presence was so thick in that room and I saw clearly how helpless I was because non of the achievements I have enjoyed could be traced to my making and this humbled me. That encounter began my sitting sessions with the Lord which I have continued ever since and the Lord later began to use this medium to communicate things to me about my future.
Sitting before the Lord is an act of total humility to reflect on His mercy, love and faithfulness. To slow down and take inventory of where we are coming from and where He has brought us. It is emptying ourselves before Him and x-raying our lives through His lens to show Him how weak we are and how His strength has come through for us in areas we least imagined. When we sit before Him, we create a platform for divine exchange where He takes our limitations and exchanges it with divine possibilities (1Kings 3:4-13).
This communion refers to spending time alone with God in solitude, forgetting your worries and filling your heart with the thoughts of His goodness towards you and how great He has been all through your lifeโs journey. The atmosphere of love created by this engagement brings down His glory and His presence and God will begin to reveal His plans for your life and also lead you in the right direction.
Because of the sincerity of our heart when we approach Him this way, He will show us things that we never knew of and also point out areas to us where we may need to make amends because of His fatherly love(Ps 32:8). This is part of His guardianship over our lives as the shepherd that He is (Ps 23:1). As His children, our love should be expressed to the Father in deep fellowship, appreciating His great acts and opening up to Him about everything without fear of retribution because He loves us more.
Prayer point:
Letโs thank God for the word today. Letโs also ask for a heart of meekness so we can sit before Him to appreciate and honour Him.
God bless you!
