Title: Slaves of Christ

It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak.ย  (Romans 14:21 NKJV)

A few weeks ago, the wife of a Pastor-friend of mine posted a video on social media. In this video, she was at a party dancing to worldly music and saying all sorts of ungodly things. This drew a lot of reaction from many people. Many people were commenting and wondering how a Pastorโ€™s wife could do such a thing. Her husband advised her to be mindful of her way of life and the things she posts on social media. According to the wife, she is free in Christ to do whatever she wants but sometimes men of God just try to use the Scriptures to enslave and oppress others.

The word of God makes us understand that one becomes a slave to whoever or whatever he/she submits to (Rom 6:16). When we were in the world, we were slaves of sin and the devil because we were controlled by sin and doing the devilโ€™s bidding. However, the Lord delivered us from this bondage and gave us freedom over sin and the devil (Rom 6:22).

Now that we are in Christ, the Lord expects us to submit to Him and do His Will all the time (James 4:7). Therefore, we donโ€™t live our lives anyhow or do things anyhow we want. Although we have been given freedom over sin and the devil, we are now slaves of Christ (Rom 6:22, 1 Cor 7:22). It is also very important to know that we are now Ambassadors of Christ (2 Cor 5:20).

As Ambassadors of Christ, we represent Him on this earth. Therefore, we have to be very cautious of our actions. Before we do anything, we need to ask ourselves if our actions will promote and have a positive impact on the Kingdom or if our actions will bring mockery and ridicule to the Kingdom. Sometimes we have to even refrain from doing some things based on the level of faith of the people around us (1 Cor 8:9-10).

This is because there are some things that if we do in the presence of those who are strong in faith, they will not be affected in any way. However, if you do it in the presence of those who are weak in faith, it might cause them to stumble. We have to know that any sacrifice we make for the Kingdomโ€™s sake will surely be rewarded (Mark 10:30, Romans 2:6).

Beloved in the Lord, it is important to know that when we come to Christ, we are not free to do whatever we want. Although we have freedom over sin and the devil, we become slaves of God. Therefore, letโ€™s willingly submit to the Lord and do His Will and He will reward us greatly.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s ask the Lord to help all Believers to submit to Him and do His Will always.

God bless you all!
