Title: Strive For The Crown

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

(2 Timothy 4:7-8)

William Booth, the founder of Salvation Army in his book, “In Heaven But Not Of Heaven” wrote about a vision he had when the Lord took him to Heaven. He found himself at the outskirts of Heaven, far away from the Throne and Glory of God. He met some people who told him that, that place is for Believers who didn’t contribute enough towards the Kingdom when they were on earth. Rick Joyner also saw a similar vision and wrote it in one of the Episodes of “The Final Quest”.

I have heard most Believers say that if they get to Heaven and even stay at the “Getto” part, they will be fine. It is very sad that these people are settling for less. This reminds me of the time when we were Students. The lazy students would usually settle for just the passing mark and end up failing the Exam, but the brilliant and diligent ones would aim for higher marks and come out with flying colors.

The truth is that it is easier for these lazy Believers to make such statements because they are still on Earth. However, when you think about the fact that you will spend eternity (forever and ever) at this place, you will change this mindset. Just imagine being at a big event full of celebrations, and you only find yourself behind billions of people. Imagine experiencing this situation for eternity. That’s why our Lord Jesus Christ said that there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matt 22:13, Matt 25:30).

Therefore, if our leaders are encouraging us to go deeper, it’s not like they are judging and condemning us to hell. This is because most Believers go quickly into defensive mode when you are correcting or encouraging them to go deeper in their relationship with the Lord and be diligent in the work of God. However, our Leaders out of love want us to go higher and deeper in the Lord and press on to get the Crown so we don’t regret it later.

Beloved in the Lord, there are a lot of rewards including Crowns awaiting us.  Let’s therefore be faithful and diligent in our service to God. This may be painful and difficult at the moment but one day when we stand before the Lord, we will know that it was worth it. Strive for the Crown!

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask God to help all Believers to be diligent in the service and work of God.
