But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)ย

There is something powerful about the moment an airplane leaves the ground. As the speed increases, a massive amount of energy is generated, and then suddenly the wheels lift. What once felt heavy is no longer bound to the earth. The plane doesnโ€™t deny gravity; it overcomes it through a greater force. As believers, we live with a kind of spiritual gravity. Worry pulls us down, and fear keeps us grounded. Yet God invites us to rise above and take a flight higher.

In our opening text, we are reminded that those who hope in the Lord will soar on wings like eagles. Eagles donโ€™t anxiously flap their wings like other birds; they stretch them wide and allow the currents to carry them upward. In the same way, faith is not constant striving. It is positioning ourselves in the current of Godโ€™s presence and trusting His Spirit to sustain us.

To take a flight spiritually means choosing faith over fear. It means stepping beyond what feels safe. When God calls you to forgive, to serve, to give generously, or to pursue a new direction, it may feel like standing at the end of a runway. Your heart races. Your doubts whisper to you, but it is your obedience that releases the energy for the lift. Think about Peter stepping out of the boat when Jesus called him (Matthew 14:29). The water definitely doesn’t have a steady impermeable surface, the wind was loud, and the risk was real. But when Peter fixed his eyes on Christ, he did what seemed impossible. Only when he shifted his focus to the storm did he begin to sink. Our flight depends on where we fix our gaze.

Perhaps today you feel stuck, trapped in routine, disappointment, or spiritual dryness. Hear the gentle invitation of the Lord: โ€œCome up higher.โ€ Through prayer, worship, and surrender, God renews your strength. Through His Word, He adjusts your perspective. Through His promises, He gives you lift. Taking a flight with God doesnโ€™t mean escaping your circumstances. It means rising above them with heavenly vision. From above, problems that once seemed overwhelming appear smaller because of the height of ascension. So, spread the wings of trust. Run toward obedience and let the Spirit of God carry you beyond your limitations.

In conclusion today, take that flight, not away from responsibility, but into deeper faith. And discover that the One who calls you to soar is faithful to keep you flying.

Prayer point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let us pray that God will lift us by faith into heights in glory.
