Title:ย The Announcement

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

(Luk 2:8-11 KJV)

Even as we are merry in the celebration of Christmas, itโ€™s good we take our minds back to scripture to meditate on the significance of the season. I believe this is the best way to celebrate, for today bears witness of truth.

God desires to be understood and His mind known by His children. This is so because He wants us to be able to predict His actions and put ourselves in a position to be able to receive Him when He comes. Therefore, the Holy Spirit inspired the Bible to be written in such a way that future events can be predicted from the stories written in it. Also, past and present events can be understood. This is the foundation of understanding in the prophetic, the new thing God is doing.

Now, the morning Jesus was born, lots of events happened that are important to note. One of them is the appearance of the Angel of the Lord to Shepherds keeping the flock at night. We should note that Jesus is a King, and before a king enters a territory, His coming is first announced. Several machineries were used to announce His coming: The ministry of John the Baptist was centred on announcing the coming of the Lord, the wise men from the east were also used by God to announce His birth at the palace of the ruler of the people (Matt. 2: 1-12), and lastly, some Shepherds were also given intelligence about His birth which they proved by going to see for themselves, and they responded by announcing the identity of the newborn king (Luk 2:8-17).

There is something to learn from the Shepherds the were chosen to be given spiritual intelligence in their days, for as it was in the first coming of Jesus Christ, so shall it be in the His second coming. From scriptures, Shepherds are symbolic titles for leaders and while the flock represents those being led. From what was written in Luke 2:8-11, the shepherds were keeping watch over the flock at night. We keep watch by praying as revealed by Him (what we see and hear). The implication of this is that those who will be given heavens intelligence of the second arrival of the second coming of Jesus are those leaders who pray at night over the people they lead (Intercessors). And by the realities of the New Testament, we are all leaders.

The end time will be a dual season, gross darkness in the world but light in the church (Isaiah 60: 1 -19). The light that will be in the church is a product of the revelation that she has. That revelation is given to those who intercede. And as Apostle Paul stated, the day of His coming will not take us by surprise. And being aware of all that will happen, we can escape the evil in the world, as affirmed by our Lord when He said โ€œWatch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man (Luke 21:36)โ€

In conclusion, knowing the significance of the events that happened on the day our Lord was born, let us resolve to keep on interceding, knowing the rewards it brings.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His word today, letโ€™s also ask him for the grace of prayer and supplication for every member of the body of Christ.

God bless you all
