The ear is one of the most powerful organs in the body and it functions as one of the highways to the soul and spirit. The word of God when listened to continually stirs up faith and changes that man or woman completely.

Meditation involves listening with the ear of your spirit while searching with your heart and a hasty soul will not hear when God speaks. When we are hasty in our souls, we miss out on too many precious things. It is in listening that we hear God, even when everywhere is noisy. In the natural, the more you listen, the more you experience calmness in your heart and the Holy Spirit can help you discern the deceitfulness in the heart of men. You will hear words that were not spoken if you listen with your heart.

When we wait on God, part of the requirement is patience, deliberate searching, and attentiveness (Jer. 29:13) so we don’t miss out on what He says at the time of visitation. It is when we cannot hear what He is saying that God goes to someone else to show things concerning us. Even when God shows things concerning us to prophetic individuals, they also need a listening ear to ferry it from the realm of the spirit to the physical as prophetic utterances or words of knowledge.

Both physical and spiritual ears are valuable assets we must keep jealously from defilement or corruption. King Lemuel became a man of revered wisdom so much so that his wisdom was recorded alongside that of Solomon for generations to learn from because he listened intently with his heart to the words of the prophecy his mother taught him (Pro. 31:1).

Elisha won battles for Israel by listening and telling the king the plans of the enemy (2 Kings 6:11-12). Therefore, when we wait and listen, we are in a position of strength and we can overcome many battles of life because we have heard the whispers from the camp of the enemy and their intentions have been laid bare by the Holy Ghost.

Let us thank God for His word today. Let us ask the Lord for a listening ear and a calm soul.
