Title: The Condition for Revival
By: Daniel Peter
Date: 22/02/2023
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Acts 2:1 KJV
In my last post, I helped us understand the meaning of revival. Today, I am going to speak on the necessary condition for a revival. The power of the Holy Spirit is needed for the manifestation of every aspect of a revival, as the praying, returning, and the healing parts of revival are all things that the Spirit of God initiates.
As we know, Ezekiel 37 gave a pictural description of a revival, which God was promising to Isreal while they were slaves in Babylon. The fulfillment of that promise in Ezekiel 37 was what was recorded in Acts 2, as exiled Jews, who were assembled in Jerusalem, received the word through Peter and received eternal life. The souls saved that day were about 3000 (Acts. 2:41). Peter and the other Apostles and disciples were not expecting to be used in that exact manner, but the coming of the Holy Spirit on them initiated the revival that started that day.
Like the day of Pentecost, the movement of the Holy Spirit is needed for the birthing of a revival. For the Holy Spirit to move, there has to be unity among the brethren (among Christians). This was what was recorded among the disciples in the upper room, as the Bible witnessed that “they were all with one accord in one place (Acts 2:1)“. What happened at Pentecost was just the side effect of the Holy Spirit moving.
Unity as a condition for the movement of the Spirit, which brings revival, is what was attested to in Psalm 133:1, when the Bible said “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion“. The oil represents the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and the Church is the new priesthood with Jesus as our head.
As unity is folstered among brethren, revival is birthed.
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help the body of Christ to be united, so we can see the move of the Holy Spirit which brings revival.
