And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not. [2] And there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. (Leviticus 10:1-2 KJV)

The book of Leviticus 10 opened up on a very sad note because Aaron who God had appointed as the priest over His tabernacle along with his four sons had just lost two of them to a tragic death that can be traced to the fire of God. These men were ordained to be priests and were among the few mortals upon the surface of the earth that were granted access into the Holy of holies. However, they got too familiar with God and their ordination that they began to do the things of God according to their own initiative and not according to the dictates of the most high and this cost them their lives.

In Revelation 2, God spoke expressly about the Ephesians church who according to Godโ€™s analysis in verses 1-3 appeared to be a vibrant, prayerful, righteous, knowledgeable in the word, sacrificial and patient church. Eventhough, they appear to be a vibrant set of believers, the Lord gave them a warning because they were beginning to assume what God will do rather than seek His face to know how He wants it done. God knew how humble they were and how they sought His face endlessly when they first got saved. This suggests that we can enter a phase of maturity where we no longer bring our vulnerability before the Lord and entreat Him for help, strength and guidance.

When a believer begins to toll this path, it could become very dangerous because soon, the Spirit of God may reduce in measure or depart and this might lead to spiritual death. When God gives an instruction, let us endeavour to carry it out to the letter and not assume we know what to do concerning such matter. He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches (Rev. 2:7a).

Prayer point:
Letโ€™s thank God for His word. Letโ€™s pray that the Lord will rekindle His love in our hearts to continue to do the first works and remain relevant in His agenda.
