O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!( Psalm 8:9 KJV)

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.( Jeremiah 33:3 KJV)

Looking through the first pages of my international passport, I was drawn to a statement written under the coat of arms and it reads;
“These are to request in the name of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance and to afford him or her every assistance and protection of which he or she may stand in need.”

This got me thinking as to why all the authority and power of the entire country has been put in a name. Then I realised that men were simply following the divine order of the King of Zion whose name carries all the power in the heavens and on earth. In nations operating under monarchy and in times past, the name of the King is as strong as his presence and whatever is sealed using the name of the King is final. His name can also give clemency or royal pardon to convicted persons who have repented and changed their ways.

As citizens of Zion here on earth, our seal of authority is embedded in the name of the Lord who is our King. Buttressing the surety of our protection, Proverbs 18:10 says The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. His name gives us access into our inheritance in Him and makes available angelic assistance in times of need. Instead of looking like a nobody when confronted, call upon His name and he will deliver you.

It is therefore important that we understand the weight His name carries so we can exercise the dominion mandate He gave to us in Gen. 1:28. Consider this, if the names of elected presidents who will leave office after four or five years can command a whole army to protect their citizens both at home and abroad, how much more the King of kings who has an eternal throne and reigns forever, He is the Commander-in-Chief of the army of heaven and Lord of host. His name is available to save, to deliver, to heal all manner of sicknesses and diseases and ultimately draw us closer to Him so He can show us His ways and guide us through His paths. There are many things that will remain clouded to us until we call upon His name and when we do, He will begin to show us great and mighty things which we know not.

Prayer point:
Let’s appreciate the name of the Lord for the word He has sent. Let pray that the Lord will cause men and women from all over the world to begin to call upon Him in righteousness so that He can heal our lands.
