Title: The Formation of Christ

My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you,ย Galatians 4:1 NIV
Man was created in the image and likeness of God. However, when he fell, he gained a new nature, which was one of sin. When one places his or her faith in Jesus, the spirit is immediately saved and is now like God again. But the soul and the body will not fully conform to the nature of Christ. The process by which the nature of Christ, who is in our spirit, permeates the soul and the body to become visible to all is called the formation of Christ in the life of a man.
The word “formation” is from the word “form“, and it means to “make or be made into a specific shape or form”. To help the children of Israel to understand this process, God sent Jeremiah to the potter’s house, where He made him watch the way he formed his clay pot into the desire shaped. God responded with these words, saying “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?โ declares the LORD. โLike clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel (Jer. 18:6 NIV)”.
Just as there must be contact between the clay and the hands of the potter forming it into shape, there must be contact between us and God before He can form His image (Christ) in us. This contact with God happens when we spend time intimating with Him. Intimacy with God is done in two ways: The closet intimacy and the moment by moment intimacy. The closet intimacy is that which we do in the secret of our houses, while the moment by moment intimacy is one that is done when we take our minds off our daily activities for the purpose of fellowshipping with God.
The longer the time we spend in fellowship with God in prayer and word study, the more His image will be formed in us.
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us to spend time intimating with Him so that His image will be formed in us.
