Title: The Glory to Come

However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen,
    what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”[b]—
    the things God has prepared for those who love him—   

1 Corinthians 2:9

I remember as a kid taking one of my first long-distance trips by bus. Now, my home country is blessed with different kinds of vegetation. So on that journey, I would sleep and when I open my eyes to look through the window I would suddenly see very tall trees and marvel. Then I would sleep again and then wake up only to see a vast expanse of savanna vegetation. It was such a beautiful experience for me. 

Now think about this; God made all things; every pleasure, every good experience you have enjoyed. Now our opening verse then says God has prepared greater things than these that you cannot even imagine for those who love Him. How great are these things? My brother or sister, you don’t want to miss heaven for anything!

There is earthly glory and there is eternal glory. God rewards those who diligently seek Him. However, not every faithful servant of God is honoured on earth but what we absolutely believe is that they will by no means miss their eternal glory. Joseph was honoured by God as a prime minister in Egypt but Steven was rather stoned to death (Acts 7:54-60). Just look around you; you will see righteous people who have been honoured on earth and righteous people who have been martyred. Therefore, our hope must not just be on earthly rewards but most importantly on the eternal glory to come.

“19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. “ 1 Corinthians 15:19

“11 They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” Revelation 12:11

For us to obtain this promise of eternal life we have to remain in Christ as Christ remains in us (John 15:5). Loving Jesus helps us obey His commandments through His grace. Let’s keep fighting and resting in Christ as we await the Glory to come (John 16:33, James 1:12, 2 Timothy 4:8).

Prayer Point: 

Let’s thank God for His goodness and mercy. May God continue to keep us in His word and help us walk in Love.
