Title: The Great Commission

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.

(Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV)

The last words of every man on earth are very important and are not to be taken lightly at all. This is the time people usually reveal secrets to their success or failure, locations of treasures, passwords etc. to their successor. This is because most people want someone to succeed them and continue their legacy. I know a man who caught Covid-19 with severe symptoms and thought he was going die. He recovered by Godโ€™s Grace and later revealed that, he recorded videos and gave out the passwords of his Computers, Bank Accounts and ATM-Cards to his Children. I believe that the final words of King David to his son Solomon contributed to the success of Solomonโ€™s Kingdom. David advised him to obey and serve God diligently and remove all the traitors and people who will be a threat to his Kingdom (1 Kings 2).

Beloved in the Lord, if the final words of mere men are important and should be taken seriously, how much more that of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ? These words are clearly written in the Gospels. The Lord commanded us to preach to everyone, baptize those who believe and teach them His word (Matt. 28:18-20). These words of our Lord Jesus are very important and thatโ€™s why the Scholars and translators of the Bible titled it, โ€œThe Great Commissionโ€.

The Disciples, Apostles and the early Church obeyed these words of our Lord Jesus. In the Book of Acts, we can see Peter, John, Philip, and Paul used every opportunity to preach the Gospel and many Souls were saved as a result. The Church also sent out devoted men and women as Missionaries all around the world to preach the Gospel and establish Churches. Majority of us are products of the obedience of these devoted men and women. Nowadays, we have left Evangelism to only Evangelists, Pastors, Apostles, and few serious Christians. However, this command of our Lord Jesus is for every Believer.

Many people are dying day in and day out who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The word of God is clear on the destination of such people; they will be condemned to Hell (John 3:18). This is not the Will of God for them! God is merciful and desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the Truth (1 Tim. 2:4, 2 Pet. 3:9). This is the reason why He sent His only begotten Son Jesus to pay the price of our sins. Letโ€™s therefore use every opportunity to preach the Gospel and intercede for Souls to be saved.

Donโ€™t worry about you will say! Just be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and He will give you the specific words you should say at that moment which will transform the lives of those you are witnessing to. One of the reasons why the Holy Spirit was given is to give us the power to be Witnesses for Christ (Acts 1:8). This is the power that transformed the life of Peter from a Denier of Christ to a great Evangelist and Apostle of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Beloved in the Lord, letโ€™s obey the command of our Lord Jesus and be sensitive to the opportunities God brings our way, and use it to preach the Gospel. Many Souls will be saved as a result.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Grace and Mercies and for giving us His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to pay the price of our sins. Letโ€™s ask God to place the burden of salvation of souls in the hearts of all believers around the world. Letโ€™s also ask God to help us to be more sensitive to the opportunities and doors He opens for preaching the Gospel.

God bless you all.
