But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Many years ago, the Lord told me “Iย give gifts to people, some small and others great. I want to give you a gift. Be loyal to me from your heart so you can receive it”. This word came amid severe trials, which continued many years after the word. Because of what He told me, I was encouraged to keep believing despite the severity of the tests. However, for a long time, I kept wondering “what is the greatest gift?” And “Why is it the greatest?”.

In our scriptural verse of today, we see that the grace each is given is according to the measure of the gift of Christ (Eph. 4:7). The word measure is from the Greek word “metron”, which means “limited portion” or “degree”. This means Christ can be in different sizes in us. Note, that the moment we gave our lives to Christ, His fullness came to our spirit. However, there’s a formation of Christ that God performs in our minds (Gal. 4:19, Eph. 4:20, Eph. 2:5), and this comes in measures. The measure of Christ that has been formed in us determines the measure of grace we can receive, and it is by grace we operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the ministry of Christ (the fivefold).

One of the ways God forms Christ in us is through trials. How yielded we are to His dealings with us goes a long way to determining the measure of the gift of Christ we can receive. He intends that Christ will be fully formed in us. This is the greatest gift, the gift of Himself. With Him being fully formed in us, we have access to all that is in Him. Apart from trials, meditating on the word and speaking in tongues for a long time hastens the process of His formation in us.

As we celebrate Christmas today, let’s remember that Christ is a gift God wants us to receive. As we determine in our hearts to follow Him fully, His nature (image and likeness) will be fully formed in us. And we can accurately represent Him on earth.

Merry Christmas Everyone.

Prayer Point.

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us remain loyal to Him despite the trials He permits and He should give us the grace to abide in the word and to pray in tongues for a long.
