Title: The Indestructible Life

โโฆnot on the basis of a law about physical descent, but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life.โ
โ Hebrews 7:16 (BSB)
One of the greatest revelations a believer can walk in is the understanding that the life weโve received in Christ is indestructible (1 John 5:11โ12). This life is not subject to death, decay, or destructionโwhether by the hands of men or the powers of darkness (John 10:28).
When describing the nature of Jesusโ priesthood, the writer of Hebrews revealed that it wasnโt based on physical lineage but on โthe power of an indestructible lifeโ (Hebrews 7:16). Through salvation, we have been made one with Christโand that same indestructible life has been given to us.
We see this life displayed powerfully in Jesusโ resurrection:
โGod raised Him up, releasing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for Him to be held in its clutchesโ (Acts 2:24).
Death could not hold Him.
This life was also evident in the ministry of Paul. He was bitten by a viper yet suffered no harm (Acts 28:3โ6); stoned and left for dead, but he rose and continued his ministry (Acts 14:19โ20). These were not mere miraclesโthey were manifestations of the eternal life at work.
So why do many believers still fall victim to destruction, and why isnโt the indestructible life evident in their experience?
Scripture gives the answer:
โMy people are destroyed for lack of knowledgeโ (Hosea 4:6).
You cannot manifest what you do not know.
2 Peter 1:3 confirms this:
โHis divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called usโฆโ
Although all things have been given to us in Christ, we can only walk in them as we grow in knowledge.
The first step, therefore, is to grow in the knowledge of this indestructible life (Colossians 3:3โ4). As we gain understanding, our response must be thanksgiving and living in the consciousness of that which we have received (Philemon 1:6).
Again, the indestructible nature of Christโs life was revealed in His priesthood (Hebrews 7:16). To see this life manifest in us, we must fulfill our priestly dutiesโembracing intercession and the preaching of the Gospel (Romans 15:16; Hebrews 5:1; 7:25).
When we walk in this truth, boldness arisesโespecially in the face of danger. That boldness is proof that we believe, and it is through believing that this life becomes evident in us.
Prayer Point:
Let us thank God for His Word today. Let us pray that the Church will grow in knowledge and walk in the full reality of this eternal and indestructible life in Christ.
