But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed. [6] And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.   (2 Kings 6:5-6 KJV)

When God wants to expand the territory of a man or he begins to sense that there is a season of enlargement close by, there will be a push and nudging from the inside to arise. This nudging is a call to labour to increase our capacity for the new season. The new height cannot be sustained with the current strength(1 Sam. 2:9).

However, this labour cannot be successfully carried out without the help of the Holy Spirit. Even when a prophecy has gone forth or the Lord has revealed by other means the start of a new season, we still need to intentionally invite the Holy Ghost on the journey of capacity building.

In our text today, we see the need for expansion and a call to labour. One of them was wise enough to invite the man of God to follow them and it paid off. There is always an agenda of sabotage in the plans of the enemy and he will do anything to abort the process( Jn 10:10). That is why the Holy Spirit needs to be invited so He can step in when the enemy strikes.

For instance, you needed to labour in fasting and prayer for seven days and on the fifth day, everyone you encountered just seemed to be doing everything to upset you. That is where the Holy Ghost will come in to furnish you with patience and largeness of heart to let go of wrongdoings and that way, your axe will float and you will complete what you have started.

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s invite the Holy Spirit afresh this morning to go with us on our journey of enlargement.
