Call to Prayer
Title: The Key of Righteousness
By: Daniel Peter
Date: 19.09.2023
Daniel always prayed to God three times every day. Three times every day, he bowed down on his knees to pray and praise God. Even though Daniel heard about the new law, he still went to his house to pray. He went up to the upper room of his house and opened the windows that faced toward Jerusalem. Then Daniel bowed down on his knees and prayed just as he always had done. Daniel 6:10-28 KJVย
God wants us to manifest the gift of righteousness that He has given to us in Christ. Though we have been made righteous by faith, there is a dimension of righteousness that is required for us to do. And it is this righteousness we do that reveals the righteous identity we have received in Christ by faith. The scriptures says: “He that doeth righteousness is righteousness“.
There were certain individuals in scriptures that manifested righteousness to a great extent, and these were Noah, Daniel, and Job. When expressing His disdain for sin and the fierceness of His judgement against a sinning nation, the Lord said “even if these three menโNoah, Daniel and Jobโwere in it, they could save only themselves by their righteousness… (Ezekiel 14:14)”, elevating Noah, Daniel, and Job as examples of righteous men. The Bible gave us more insight about Daniel. And how during his trials His colleagues tried finding a case against him, the Bible said that none was found, for he was faithful and without fault (Daniel 6:4). The excellent spirit the king noticed that made him desire to elevate Daniel in the kingdom was not just in his attitude towards work, but also in his character in general.
The Bible revealed the way Daniel achieved this height, it was through prayer. For scriptures said “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days (Daniel 6:10 NKJV)”. Intermittent prayer and thanksgiving is the key to manifest the righteous nature we have received.
To affirm this truth, I will share a story. Some time ago, the Lord placed it in my heart to visit a friend of mine who was a lady. She was living in a city in Germany that was different from mine. Before coming, we both made attempts to get an accommodation outside her place but we couldn’t find, and I had no option than to be in her house in the period of my stay. Seeing she was an attractive lady and I am a man of like passion, I decided to pray and I ask God for His help not to fall into sin with her. I spent a few days with her and by the grace of God nothing sinful happened. The morning of the day I was to leave The Lord spoke to me. He said, “I have given you the key of righteousness and the identity of righteousness”. Knowing that the victory over sin came because I prayed, then I understood prayer was the key of righteousness. However, the Angel of the Lord appeared to me in a dream some months after, and he told me plainly “the key of righteousness is prayer”.
Men and women of strong will have fallen into sin. It’s not enough to purpose in your heart not to sin, it is humility before God when you pray and ask Him for help not to sin. This was how righteous men in scriptures lived.
Prayer Point.
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to keep each member of the body of Christ from falling.
