Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. ย (James 5:17 KJV).

The scriptures say, “You are gods, you are children of the Most High God” (Psalm 82:6). As gods living among men, our outcome in life should be one that causes men to wonder because of its supernatural nature. Sadly, many Christians live ordinary lives, creating little impact in the natural world.

The key to manifesting supernaturality was revealed in certain characters in the Bible, including our Lord Himself. Therefore, for those who desire to manifest their divine nature, learning and imitating what was written about these characters becomes a wise engagement.

When Jesus Christ walked this earth, the supernatural nature of His life was one none could deny, for it was revealed through the miracles He performed and the selflessness He demonstrated (John 20:30-31, Acts 10:38). The impact of His three and a half years of ministry is still evident now, through the billions of souls saved and lives transformed by faith in His name. When His disciples observed Him, they were able to draw the link between the supernaturality He demonstrated and His life of prayer: They knew that His outcome in life was a product of His prayer life. This led them to ask Him, “Teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1).

Another person whose life on earth amazed men in his generation was Daniel, who was a prophet of God and an administrator who served both in the Babylonian Kingdom and that of Persia and Medes (Daniel 1:6-7, 6:1-3). This Daniel showed exceptional qualities, making his colleagues feel threatened by his life of excellence. When his colleagues observed Daniel, they noticed he was one given to prayer, and they urged the king to pass a decree banning anyone from praying to any god for a period of time (Daniel 6:4-9). The supernatural outcome of Daniel’s life was because he was a man of prayer.

Another person whose life revealed the key to the supernatural is Elijah, whose life amazed many in his generation. This was one who destroyed armies by calling down fire from heaven (2 Kings 1:10-12), single-handedly challenged over 400 prophets of Baal, and caused them to be killed (1 Kings 18:20-40). This man Elijah had authority over the natural elements, that by his word he stopped rain and caused it to rain (1 Kings 17:1, 18:41-46). Elijah was a great wonder in his generation. However, when James was writing about him, he revealed that Elijah was a man of like passions, yet he prayed earnestly (James 5:17). The supernatural he exhibited was linked to his life of prayer.

From what I have written above, it is evident that the key to the supernatural is prayer; when we pray, God releases grace to us to manifest our divine nature. This makes our outcome in life beyond human and a wonder to many.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us to pray as we should, so we can manifest the supernatural.
