And it was given unto him to give breath to it, even to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as should not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Regarding the events of the End Time, different opinions exist. Some believe that the rapture will take place before the tribulation, while others believe it will occur within the period of tribulation. However, one thing we know from Scripture is that there will be Christians on earth during some of the events recorded in the Bible.

Reading through Revelation 11 to 13, we see a distinction between the dwellers of heaven and the dwellers of earth. For example, Revelation 12:12 states, “Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.” (NKJV)

The concept of heaven here encompasses not only the heaven above the clouds where angels and other celestial beings reside but also the heaven that can be accessed by faith now. For instance, when Jesus was on earth physically, He said of Himself, “…even the Son of Man who is in heaven” (John 3:13, KJV), indicating that He was in heaven despite being on earth. Those who dwell in heaven are exempt from the permitted evil of this time.

This truth was affirmed when the Child born in Revelation 12 was caught up to heaven (the throne of God) to hide him from the devil. (Revelation 12:5) Again, we find that when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were questioned about not bowing before the image set up by Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 3:14-18), Daniel was not present. This is not because Daniel bowed but because Daniel was hidden by God.

We live in heaven despite being on earth through the practice of intimacy with God; As we continually dwell in the secret place by being conscious of His presence and communing with Him, the truth that we are dwellers of heaven becomes evident, and we are spared from the evil on earth.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask Him to help us be intimate with Him at all times, so the truth that we are dwellers of heaven will become evident.
