Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, [10] That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death. (Philippians 3:8,10 KJV)

In our walk with God, the most important thing is in knowing who exactly he is. Jesus was asking the disciples who men think he is and they gave him all sorts of answers and thereafter he asked them; who do you think I am? (Matt. 16:15) This question that Jesus asked was vital as it realigned their thinking. Although, they had been with him all through since he started ministry and they believed they knew him, yet, not everyone had the revelational knowledge of who he truly is.

Who is Jesus to you and how well do you know him personally. Of course, he is the personal Lord and saviour, he is the redeemer, he is the lion of the tribe of Judah and he is everything your Pastor said he is but who is he to you? Having personal experiences of Jesus brings us into the knowledge dimension of him. That is when you start enjoying his presence around your life and reading his word becomes a delight because he opens your eyes to see the deep things embedded in them and it will be as if you were there when the scriptures were being written. The knowledge of His person changes your prayer life and every prayer time becomes the sweet hour of prayer.

The first experience of Peter with Jesus was when he caught multitudes of fishes at the Lordโ€™s command after toiling all night and catching nothing. To Peter at that moment, Jesus was probably a prophet and maybe a miracle worker. But as he journeyed with the Lord, listening and watching and growing in the knowledge of him day by day, having his spirit built up, He came into the knowledge of Christ as the Messiah. At another time he came into the knowledge of the power in the name of Jesus that is able to heal and the man sitting at the gate of the temple called Beautiful got healed. Everyone had been with Jesus, but Peter knew him more because he desired to.

We all need to seek to know Him more and more. Our knowledge of him is never enough. The more we think we know Him, the more he reveals himself to us by his Spirit. The amount of the revelational knowledge of Christ that Apostle Paul had was immense but still, his craving and utmost desire was to know Him more. The thought that we know Jesus already and thatโ€™s enough is a robbery on our part because he is always willing to reveal more of himself to us.

Prayer point:
Letโ€™s ask God to increase our knowledge of him and to keep knowing him more and more everyday.
