And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
Genesis 22:8 KJV
For anyone God intends to use, one of the areas God trains them in is trusting Him for provision. He does this so we will learn to rely on Him and be unfazed by the financial requirements of that which He is sending us to do, for we know He will provide. The time of this training is not an easy one, as He will intentionally close certain doors to put us in a situation where we will have no other option than to trust Him for provision.
In his autobiography Living a Life of Fire, Reinhard Bonnke shared a story of how he was trained by the Lord to trust Him for provision. In his story, he mentioned how one time he visited a particular city but didnโt have money to return. He had the option of asking those he visited for assistance, but he chose not to ask, trusting that the Lord would provide for him. And truly He did, as someone came and gave him the exact money he needed, without him asking. This experience built his faith for provision in his ministry.
God cares, and He knows our situation. Just as a child depends on his or her parents for their needs, God wants us to depend on Him for our needs. However, there are things we need to do to experience His provision. When Isaac asked Abraham about the burnt offering for the sacrifice, Abraham responded by saying, โGod will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offeringโ (Genesis 22:8 KJV). God confirmed this word by providing a ram for the sacrifice (Genesis 22:13).
What we say in times of need matters, as God will confirm our confessions of faith. When He instructed me to return to Nigeria from Germany, He said to me, โIf anybody should ask you of your financial plan, tell them the Lord will provide.โ Itโs been over two years since I returned, and I have seen Him provide for me over and over again. When we confess by faith that He will provide, we will see His provision.
God is faithful; He will never leave you stranded in the path that He sends you. In times of need, maintain your composure and donโt do anything desperate. He that gave His only begotten Son will supply all your needs in accordance with His riches in glory. Trust Him!
Prayer Points:
- Letโs thank God for His word today.
- Letโs ask Him to help His children trust Him for provision in times of their need.
