CALL TO PRAYER
Title: The love of His presence

“Amen Elijah said unto Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee, So they went down to Bethel.” (2Kings 2:2 KJV)
Just like a child born into a home, growth automatically becomes the factor for responsibility. A baby that is being breastfed first recognises the mother by reason of her continual presence and communion. Likewise, our walk with God demands perseverance and patience. We are therefore subject to this process of beholding Him continually to know Him so as to be changed to His image.
From our Bible passage for today, we see Elisha deliberately sticking to Elijah during the final hours before he was caught up in the chariots of fire. He was willing to go the whole length to continue sharing fellowship with Elijah and when he was finally taken up, his perseverance paid off because the Spirit of Elijah rested on him.
Being in the presence of God should not be attached to a place or a location. It should not always be in church or when we are having our personal devotion. We must carry with us His presence everywhere we go. His presence is more precious than anything in this world and this is where we belong as children of God. This presence was what drove Jordan back and made mountains skip like lambs. (Psalm 114:4)
It is God’s desire that we become one with Him by abiding together (John 15:4). This way, His nature is reflected in us. This was the nature that was seen in the disciples in Antioch and they referred to them as Christians which is an evidence of their abiding in Christ.
Prayer point:
Letโs thank God for His word. Let us ask him for the grace to continually dwell in His presence and condition our hearts to love Him above all else.
God bless you all
