16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. Isaiah 59:16 KJV
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Ezekiel 22:30 KJV

Last Saturday, I began this topic of the need for intercession. I wrote that every believer ought to intercede, just as they ought to share the gospel. I also explained that intercession makes us more like Christ and that God indeed listens and answers our intercessions. Today, we continue our discussion of the need for intercession.

As we read in the opening verses, God’s man on earth is one who intercedes for others. Through a God’s man, God is able to show mercy and deliver individuals and nations. Daniel was one who acted as a God’s man. Through Daniel’s prayers, angels were dispatched to restore the Israelites from captivity and exile. Let’s see Daniel 10:12 NKJV:

12 Then he said to me, โ€œDo not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.

God has given management over the earth to mankind (Psalm 115:16). This means God would not usually intervene on earth unless we call upon Him to act because we are the rulers of the earth. Although God’s plan is that we rule according to God’s will. So, like Daniel, when we pray, God receives our permission or call to act on earth, and He sends His angels to carry this out.

The word God tells in Hebrews 1:14
14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

From the above verse, we see that angels are available to serve us. However, like every servant, they need instructions from us in order to act. These instructions are given through prayers to God, who then empowers or sends out the angels to act.

Through our prayers, many people can be converted. Through our intercessions, God can show mercy on nations and deliver them.

So prayer indeed empowers our angels to act for good, and God, who is our faithful rewarder, will definitely reward those who act as “a God’s man on earth”.

Prayer Points:

Let’s thank God for this word today.

Let’s pray that God will help each and every one of us to engage more in intercession for others, knowing the importance and that He faithfully rewards His servants.
