Title: The Patience of God
Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost sinner Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
(1 Timothy 1:16 NASB)
Some of us as Parents know how frustrating it might feel whenever your Toddler jumps up and down and move around the table when itโs time to eat. You could scream as loud as you can, but your Toddler would do just what he/she wants. What about us? Can we truly say that we are always obedient to God? It is obvious we havenโt because if we had, this world would have been a better place. Our disobedience began in the time of Adam and Eve (Genesis 2:4-3:24).
Before I continue my topic today, I would like to explain the word, โGraceโ in the Biblical terms. Grace is an unexpected and undeserving divine favor and love of God towards the unworthy. In His Grace, God is willing to forgive us and bless us, even though we fall short of living righteously (Romans 3:23).
We have sinned severally against God, yet Jesus is willing to give us chances to change and do right. Jesus is so patient with us that, it doesnโt matter how many sins we commit in a day, He still remains patient with us. Not only is He willing to welcome us back and forgive us, but He is also willing to give us another chance.
The reason why I want to emphasize on the Perfect Patience of God is that, if you donโt have the full revelation of Jesusโ Perfect Patience, it will always be a struggle for you to do anything in life. You will constantly be worried about every move you make because you are afraid of getting God angry. Beloved in the Lord, the Bible tells us that God is compassionate, loving, and gracious and slow to anger. Donโt let the devil deceive you to believe that you are undeserving of forgiveness.
There are so many attributes that make us know who God is but to me, the main one that explains who God is, is His Perfect Patience towards us. If Godโs Patience wasnโt sufficient for us, we wouldnโt exist long enough to experience His Love, Power, the Grace, and Mercy. We wouldnโt even know how it feels to be saved and wanted by God.
Sometimes God put us in uncomfortable situation or in the midst of annoying people. It may be at your workplace, your marriage, friends, or family. The reason why God put us in such situations is to build and develop in us the character of Patience.
Apostle Paul wrote to his son Timothy and told him that Godโs Perfect Patience towards a sinner like him is a demonstration to others who are yet to be saved. Apostle Paul made it known to all of us that even to the worst sinner like him, Gods Perfect Patience is Sufficient. There is no imperfection and no mistake towards His Patience towards us. Also, Apostle Paul made it known that He was the foremost of all sinners, just to make it clear that in case anyone comes and denies Godโs Love and Patience, he/she will know that thereโs no sin too big to be forgiven. Apostle Paul wanted to make it clear to everyone that if God could save the chief of all sinners like him, then God can also save anybody.
Saints, Apostle Paul in all his life has witnessed Godโs Perfect Patience, and thatโs the reason why he made his son Timothy learn about this. No matter what the reason may be that you arenโt getting close to God anymore, just know that Godโs Perfect Patience is still there for you.
Prayer Point:
Letโs thank God for His Word today. Letโs ask God for His Perfect Patience to continue to be sufficient towards His Children so that all who are yet to know Him will also know about it.
God bless you all.
