Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, ‘To your descendants I will give this land.’ And there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.”
Genesis 12:7
Like we have discussed in the last call to prayer on ‘ALTAR’, we explored what an altar is, its uses, and the consequences of raising an altar to God. It is essential to understand the efficacy, or power, of the altar.
The power of the altar is reserved for those who prepare themselves for a divine encounter, seeking to strengthen their covenant and deepen their relationship with God.
Noah understood the power of the altar in Genesis 8:20, which says, “Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.” (NKJV)
Noah’s altar symbolized his gratitude, obedience, and desire to reconnect with God after the devastating flood.
Similarly, Abraham built an altar in Genesis 13:4, which states, “To the place of the altar, which he had made there at first: and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.” (KJV)
Abraham’s actions demonstrate his desire to reconnect with God.
The power of the altar helps us disconnect from the world and reconnect with God, leading to life-changing encounters, sincere worship, lasting commitments, and personal transformation.

Prayer Points:

  • Let’s pray for God to empower us.
  • Let’s pray that our altars be empowered in Jesus’ name.
