The Power of Consistency
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
– Luke 18:4 KJV
This parable of the widow and the judge teaches us about the importance of consistency. We realized that the widow received justice as she kept going to the judge day and night. We will also receive answers to our prayers and great rewards on earth and in Heaven when we persistently go before the Lord in prayer and also be committed to every good work the Lord has assigned to us. We live in a world of fast food, fast cars, bullet trains and high-speed internet and this has birthed a generation of impatient people who expects everything to work as quick as possible.
We tend to give up when things are not going as we expect. However, we should know that God works in His own time and not according the time we expect Him to. Its very sad that majority of Christians nowadays are not consistent in their Faith. We are not consistent in going to Church, attending prayer meetings, having quiet time, having personal prayer time, giving to support the Gospel, helping the poor, and other good works. We do these good works one, two or three times and then we lose interest, give up, and stop doing them as we used to.
I believe one of the main reasons why we give up so easily is lack of Faith. As Christians, we are supposed to live by Faith and when we do so, we donโt give up. God may delay answering, but his delays always have good reasons. As we persist in prayer, we grow in character, Faith, and hope. Maybe the Lord led you to start a Church but your members are few, you were led to start a YouTube Channel but the subscribers and viewers are few, you have been praying for a long time for someone to be saved but to no avail, donโt give up.
The problem with most Christians is that, we measure our level of success based on the worldly standard. When we have few members in our Church or few Viewers and Subscribers on our online Channel, we tend to think that we have failed the Lord. I would like to encourage you today that Godโs measure of success is based on your obedience to what He asked you to do. Once you are doing what the Lord asked you to, know that He is proud of you my beloved in the Lord. Keep on doing the good works! Donโt let the worldly standard influence you to think that you have failed so you become depressed and end up giving up. Thatโs the plan of the devil but we are not ignorant of his devices.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV).
Brethren letโs therefore be consistent in our prayer and in good works, knowing that the Lord will surely answer our prayers and reward our good works, on earth and in Heaven. Our labour will definitely not be in vain!
Prayer Point:
Letโs thank God for the answers to the prayers we have already received. Letโs ask God to grant us the Grace and Strength to obey Him and be consistent in our Faith and good works as we await the glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
If this has blessed you, please share this Call to Prayer with your friends and family so they will be blessed too.ย
