Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: (Romans 4: 18-19)

Whenever a woman becomes pregnant and preparations are being made for the coming baby, it is being done because there is an expectation that after a certain time, the baby will be born. This expectation is anchored on hope. Nobody has met this unborn child before and throughout the gestation period of nine months that the baby will be in the motherโ€™s womb, names would have been decided for the child, clothes would have been bought with the hope that when the pregnancy cycle is accomplished, this bundle of joy will become a physical member of the family.

This is the joy that we have in Christ that we shall reign with Him when this earth passes away. It is a reality that we know is going to come to pass even though none of us have been to heaven before. A lot of times, faith is powered by hope just like we see from the life of Abraham in our opening scripture. It is hope that paints the picture of what the end looks like and with this expected picture of the future, we begin to plan for that which is to come.

When God shows you a vision or dream of the future, you jump into action because you know that it is coming to pass after a while (Hab. 2:1-4). The greatest disservice you will do is to lose hope of its fulfilment. Hope is very vital in the building of our faith and in our daily walk with the Lord. Our Lord Jesus endured the cross because of the joy set before Him which he will get later. When we put our hope in the Lord, it is tantamount to trusting Him and that joy of our hope will never be cut short.

Expectation is loaded with many things and one of it is reward. God always rewards those that are faithful in His service. Many have lost rewards because they lost hope (Num. 13:31-33, 14:1-4). Whatever God has said, He is capable to bring it to fruition and instead of worrying, we are to remain joyful with this hope that He is more than able to perform His counsel.

Prayer point:

Let us thank God for His word today. Let us pray that the lost will hope in God again and receive Him.
