Title: The power of reconciliation
Date: 18.11.2022
For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight. (Col. 1:19-22 NKJV)
What does it mean to reconcile? To reconcile is to restore friendship or harmony. To resolve, and settle differences. To check for accuracy, to account for.
The first Adam was made by God in the image and likeness of God and was made to have dominion over all the earth. We can safely say that Adam was made to be a God-kind. When Adam sinned he was stripped of his identity as the God-kind and therefore his dominion was also taken stripped away from him. Because of the fall of Adam, man was sentenced to death. So we were supposed to have died because of our sins, but because of the love of God, He released payment for our sins to redeem us and reconcile us to Himself. This means, our God-kind identity has been restored back to us. The Lord wants us to know that the debt has been fully paid and we are to live as people that have been reconciled with God and given back everything we had lost because of the fall. We are to subdue the earth and have dominion over everything.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus Eph. 2:4-6 NKJV)
We are seated with Christ in heavenly places. It is a mystery that God wants us to believe in not just say it but live in it every day. Eph1v19 says
and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come (Eph. 1:19-21 NKJV)
Prayer Point:
Let us thank God for answering our prayers. Let us thank God for reconciling us to Himself and paying our debt in full, and restoring our identity in Him.
