Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.

Yesterday, I wrote about the power of sacrifice. Today, I am going to continue by revealing the reason God honours sacrifices and which sacrifice He accepts. Before the creation of the world, God foresaw the rebellion by Lucifer and Adam, and He decided on a means by which Adam and the entire creature would be restored, the death of His son.
Scriptures say “… the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world (Rev 13:8)”, and that Lamb was Jesus Christ. The cross was a preemptive move by God. So any time a sacrifice is performed, it reminds God of how He sacrificed His son, and God honours the desires of your heart (the reason for your sacrifice). When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, it was a test he allowed to help us, the children of faith, see what He was going to do later (He sent Jesus to die for our sins).
Now, though this principle of sacrifice has been abused by the kingdom of darkness, God still honours it, even for us in the New Covenant. There’s no one who is manifesting the glory of God (His Power, Character, and Prosperity) who doesn’t apply this principle. Now, what do we offer as sacrifices? God is not requesting us to offer human sacrifice like the word practices, but we see from the scriptures what God accepts as sacrifices. Romans 12:1-2 revealed that we should offer ourselves as living sacrifices. This involves denying ourselves the pleasure of sin and being submitted to God. God may ask you to leave a job, a location, or even a relationship etc. When we obey, we are offering ourselves as living sacrifices.
Another thing He accepts as a sacrifices in the New Covenant is money. Giving sacrificially is very pleasing to God, especially when we do it joyfully. Though it was recorded in the Old Testament, we saw how God elevated Solomon above all in his dispensation after he offered 1000 burnt offerings (1 Kings 3:4 -28). God still honours sacrificial giving. The sacrifice of time for the pursuit of God and doing His will is also considered a sacrifice by Him and He rewards it.
Prayer Point.
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us over pleasing sacrifices to Him.
