Title: The Power of Words

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

ย (Proverbs 18:21 NKJV)

There is a story of a man who planted two seeds on the same soil. He took very good care of both by watering them everyday and carrying out the necessary activities that Farmers usually do. The two seeds germinated and started growing. However, this man began to curse one Plant every day and blessed the other. It is believed that after some time the Plant, which was being cursed daily, died but the one which was being blessed continued to grow.

Do you remember what happened to the Fig Tree our Lord Jesus cursed for not bearing Fruit? The Tree immediately withered up (Matt. 21:19). Beloved in the Lord, our words have a lot of Power and therefore we have to be careful with the words we normally speak. The Lord created Heaven and Earth and everything in them through His Word (Gen 1, John 1). As Children of God, we can also create our future by positive declarations made in Faith. In the same way, we can also kill our future by the negative words we speak.

We have to learn to always speak good and positive words irrespective of the circumstance. This is because we live by Faith and not by sight (2 Cor 5:7). Even if the situation seems impossible in the sight of man, we know that we serve a God who loves us and can also do all things (Matt 19:26). Knowing this, we rather make positive declarations concerning the difficult situation and the Lord will act on it and cause everything to work for our good. We have to be careful of what we say when we are going through difficult times knowing that the Lord will judge every ungodly word (complaining, murmuring) spoken against Him (Jude 1:14-16, Num 16). Letโ€™s learn from Job who never cursed God upon all the difficult times he went through.

I would also advise you not to criticize men of God, miracles, prophecies, and things you donโ€™t understand or have no proof of. For example, โ€œthis Pastor is not of God, this prophecy or miracle is fake etc.โ€ ย This is because if he is of God and the miracles are the works of the Holy Spirit and you attribute them to a different Spirit, itโ€™s a sin against the Holy Spirit which will not be forgiven (Matt 12:31).

We have to be careful of what we say when we are successful, and everything seems to be going great for us. In these times, lets acknowledge God, worship Him, and give Him the Glory He deserves. The Rich Fool failed to do so, and the Lord took his life (Luke 12:16-21). Last but not the least, donโ€™t make promises you know you canโ€™t keep and donโ€™t be quick to tell a lie and say,โ€ Itโ€™s just a lieโ€. Liars are children of the evil one and have no place in the Kingdom of God (John 8:44).

Beloved in the Lord, our words are very powerful and therefore, we have to be careful how we use them so they can always bring a blessing to us and not a curse.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s ask God to help all believers around the world to be conscious of the power of Words. Letโ€™s also ask Him to help us to always speak good and positive words irrespective of the circumstance.

God bless you all.
